Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
To access a Medicare rebate, you will need to consult with your GP who may deem you eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
This will allow you to access up to 10 sessions per calendar year, with your Psychologist. Medicare will help you pay the cost, providing a rebate following payment of the full fee. The out-of-pocket expense with a MHCP is approximately $95 per session.
Please ensure you have a referral letter from your GP if you are wanting to access Medicare rebates. Without the referral letter we cannot process your rebate for you.
The recommended fee from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for psychological services is $318 per standard individual session. The recommended fee from the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) is $330 per standard individual session.
