Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP)
To access a Medicare rebate, you will need to consult with your GP who may deem you eligible for a Mental Health Care Plan.
This will allow you to access up to 10 sessions per calendar year, with your Psychologist. Medicare will help you pay the cost, providing a rebate following payment of the full fee. The out-of-pocket expense with a MHCP is approximately $105 per session.
Please ensure you have a referral letter from your GP if you are wanting to access Medicare rebates. Without the referral letter we cannot process your rebate for you.
The recommended fee from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for psychological services is $330 per standard individual session. The recommended fee from the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) is $340 per standard individual session.
EMDR
(Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
$375 for a 75-90 minute session.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic experiences that continue to affect everyday life.
EMDR supports the brain to reprocess past distressing memories which become ‘stuck’. EMDR has been shown to be effective in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, anxiety, panic, grief, depression, phobias, low self-esteem, and trauma resulting from accidents, abuse, betrayal, violence, or medical events and birth trauma.
At Coastal Psychology Hub, EMDR is delivered in a safe, compassionate, and structured way, ensuring you have the skills and support needed before trauma processing begins, with the goal of helping you feel less burdened by the past and more able to engage fully in the present.
